Hi,
I have been running http://www.grilling24x7.com for a couple of years now. I am in the process of adding a RSS feed to the blog and I have a few questions. Here is what I've done so far: http://grilling24x7.com/feed.xml

I notice that some blogs put the entire blog post as an item where others will tease you with a sentence or two and then have a '...'. Is one method superior to the other? I assume the ... is added because you want the reader to read this on your website, not the rss feed (for advertising purposes).

Are there any google page rank issues with having a rss feed? I thought I saw somewhere that google looks down upon having exact content on the blog and the rss feed.

Any tips or advice is welcome.

Thanks!

John

How much of your content that you syndicate is really up to you. I glanced at what you have currently, and think you've hit a pretty good balance.

As for the search engines, the issue with RSS feeds is only with regard to duplicate content. That is, the same content being offered in more than one location. First off, the risk of any real problem is very small. Second, in your case where you're only offering portions of your content, the risk is essentially zero. Overall, the worst case is that a page from your site is considered to be a duplicate of a page considered to be better quality on another site. What happens is that the page from your site is filtered from the search results and possibly removed from the index entirely which might disrupt the flow of link popularity to other pages on your site. This isn't a penalty, but it can do some real damage in rare cases. Again, I wouldn't worry about it at all in your case. Even if you start to syndicate entire articles, your pages should generally be judged as the best quality.
