View Full Version : Testing MySQL
I plan to use phpMyAdmiin to access the MySQL database. However, I am using a temporary URL for 30 days until my domain name is transferred and the DNS points to PowWeb's DNS servers.
Unitl then, can I test to ensure that MySQL is operational by installing phpMyAdmin, even though I am using a temporary URL on PowWeb?
If so, then anything special for settings needed to be able to access it with phpMyAdmin?
Is there a simple program to use to just test to see that the server and database are operational?

Hi SLSTEK,
Please go to http://ops.powweb.com and use your login and password to get in. when you are in just click on the "packages" and check to see if SQL is "active". You can use it if its active. If it confirms that its active just follow the following steps.
1. for "phpmyadmin installation" go to
Click here (http://help.powweb.com/tutorials/mysql/phpmyadmin/install.php)

Best of luck!
Thanks newcomer -- MySQL is active from the powweb OPS page and the php test worked also to show that PHP is running. I can connect via MySQL Client OK as well plus the temp URL is operational, but I need to get phpMyAdmin going if I can on my temporary URL...
Only having trouble with phpMyAdmin pointing to my domain URL instead of my temporary URL http://tullatalkcom.powweb.com (provided for 30 days) until the normal DN is transferred.
Can one use their temporary URL for MySQL operations until the normal one is transferred and DNS pointed to powweb's DNS servers? This is my basic question not answered in the FAQs and help files.
