I have been with Powweb for 2 months now and so far have been dissappointed with the service. I love the features & the forum etc. but its my sites downtime thats causing me grief. I would like to hear from people who have been with Powweb longer than I have. Is the last months performance an indication of the usual service? Or has it been a bad month compared to their past performance?

Apparently the recent scheduled downtime was to improve... better network uptime, faster connections, and overall improved stability. Was space going down this morning an indication of this 'improved service'?

hyper,

I have been with powweb a yr. and this past month has been trying. It is by no means a good example of powweb service. When the new data center gets all the bugs worked out things are going to be great. Powweb servers in the past have always been some of the fastest servers on the net. With the new data centers 9 backbone connections and reconfiquration of the NOC it will be one of the most dependable.

Hang in and have a little faith. You won't be dissapointed in the long run.

hyper...

I have two sites hosted with Powweb.. since last December... Except for a few issues which turned out to be 'pilot error'... ... I have been very happy with them .

This has been the 1st time I've had to get my dander up over something with them ever.. lol And even then... I learned something new. [thanks to Galax!!] I think once they get this move ironed out, it'll be smooth sailing again.

Hang in there... I haven't found but ONE 'better deal' on the 'net... features per dollar ratio.. and THOSE folks went out of business last week.. LOL :D I finally have everything up and running again.. so things seem to be getting back to normal.

I have checked and no other web host allows an open forum. I am sure you would see the same types of posts. Sure POWWEB deletes some of the flaming posts, but they also leave a lot of them.

I check for private websites which give info on other hosting companies. I had thought about moving to another and talked to their rep. He assured me they were the best. I did a google search and found people with post all over the place warning me to stay away.

Lets not knock POWWEB too hard, they have had too take some large lumps. We will wait and let action do the talking.

Since January. Very pleased. Stick around a while. I think you'll be happy.

I've been with powweb since January for my first domain, been quite pleased with their service..

just got my second one last month, and unfortunately all these events have made it seem like it isn't that great .. but, they do have great features, and when things come back online,... i'm sure it will be well worth it..

personally, i like powweb, and plan to stay with them, even considering hosting a 3rd site in the near future.

I have only been here for a couple of months also, but here is how I feel:

First - if you have a busness site that makes you a lot of money (and will lose you money if it is down), then I would go somewhere else. I find it really funny that I have seen some people talk about how they lost $500, $1,000, etc... amount of money becuase of the down time. If you make that much money, why are you spending $7.77 for webhosting???

Second - If you have a site that won't hurt you too bad with being down, then I would probable try to stick it out. Hopefully this move will fix some of the problems.

Then again, since they do delete messages that make PowWeb look bad - they could have been having these kinds of problems for the last 2 years - just us new users only know about the recent events.

Me myself will probable stick it out - at least until my payment runs out, and then decided then if I want to leave or not. But here are things I will want to see from PowWeb if I do stay then:

1. Beter uptime.
2. They need e-mail support. (Yea, I know they said they sent everyone e-mails, but that was a lie.) They need to take 2 hours, gather everyone e-mail address, and put them in "groups" (example: Moon users, Space users, etc..) Then whenever there is a problem with a server - E-MAIL YOUR USERS! Don't require everyone sign on to these forums (then get a message saying the forums are too busy). E-Mailing users will take PowWeb as much time as it does to post a message. All it will take is a couple hours to set it up!

Ok.... that was more then you asked, but hopefully PowWeb admins will read this before it gets deleted!

hyper, i've been around a year or a bit less. When i joined powweb, they were perfect, but lately dunno, the servers kept going up and down, not really stable (just for couple of weeks).

But i hope the problems won't occur much. just take it easy,

The past couple of months have not been reflective of the typical service you can expect. Basically because the servers as well as the entire server center have been going through constant upgrades. This phase should be complete with the latest move to the new data center and connection to a new backbone provider. Once the little 'bugs' are gone you should see very consistent and top notch service :)

I have 4 domains with powweb.com and I have been overall happy with the service I have received, especially for the money I have spent.

I would definately recommend Powweb.Com to any of my visitors and I can understand why we are having these problems.

I can't think of any other Host who has a board like this where members can come and post their frustrations and questions and receive the type of help they get.

Another great outfit in my opinion is ikonboard.com....They have great service and have a community support board much like this where a person can go get help. Ikonboard is a free message board and one of the best boards on the market in my opinion.

I am like everyone else, I am disappointed when my site is down, but if this is to improve future stability, I am all for it.

By the way, Simcoweb.com is one of the best Webmaster sites on the net also, they are very helpfull and have done several jobs for me at extrodinary low prices.

I have been with Powweb going on 2 years now.

Thanks,

Wazup
