It has been over 5 days since I have been able to receive email from my domain. I have tried switching my data in outlook express to the IP of my server, I have waited and waited...

I even received a email saying that the powweb transfer was completed!! It seems funny that they could consider a transfer complete without their customers being able to use email!

Well, I know the moderator is going to delete this soon, but at least I got that out. I am tryingf VERY hard to be patient and supportive, but if I do not get some kind of help or explanation (more than "I believe the worst is behind us") I certainly will not be returning here with my money next year.

Note to Moderator: before you delete this, please send me a link to any help or suggestions as to how I might receive my email again from my virtual domain using outlook express- NOT web mail or some workaround. Thank you.

I had no intention to delete your post. You have a problem and we will try to solve it. That is why Powweb is perfect.

1) Does your mail work from webmail?
2) Have you tried to change your SMTP port (24 or 25)?
3) Didi you check all your settings with the help.powweb.com/tutorials/

You may want to contact support@powweb.com

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'Domain', Server: '63.251.213.24', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Webmail works (though I do not like it)
Settings are all cool
Changing port does not help

Still get the same error message I have been getting since the 18th, seen above

jesusfreak,

Have you tried using mail.powweb.com (or mail2 or mail3) as POP and SMTP server names?

I am using mail.powweb.com and it works perfectly BUT if I use mail.fdufresne.ch as I did in the past it still does not work (but I do not really care as long as mail.powweb.com does the job).

I tried this because I read it in some threads.

Try it! (If you haven't done so yet.)

I suggest you to delete your account and create another one as per tutorials on help.powweb.com/tutorials.

If this does not work, please advice me immediately.

In my case it seems to be a DNS issue:

Pinging mail.fdufresne.ch [64.63.125.220] with 32 bytes of data:
[...]
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 64.63.125.220:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
[...]
Pinging mail.powweb.com [63.251.213.34] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 63.251.213.34: bytes=32 time=138ms TTL=47
[...]

I am on mail.powweb.com and mail.fdufresne.ch should resolve to the same ip address. Strangely enough, everything else works.

Now, I have an idea: since www.fdufresne.ch resolves to the right ip address then the translation of mail.fdufresne.ch has to be done by Powweb. So, the problem is "here" at Powweb. I think that I will have to contact support... or am I missing something?

Yes, I was missing something: this name resolution happens on name servers around the world.

I tried pinging mail.fdufresne.ch from a machine in Switzerland (using Telnet) and it says that mail.fdufresne.ch is alive and with the proper option (that) ping gives me the right ip address (the one of mail.powweb.com).

So, the problem is with my ISP. Since I have a workaround and we will be leaving for good for the Old Continent in ten days, I will live with this local glitch.

experimenting around with mail.powweb/mail2.powweb, etc... finally worked.

Thanks all. I wish that had been posted in the open so I could have done that a week ago. My settings, which had worked fine for 6 months just stopped working.

Anyway, thanks... I like powweb, and am glad everything is cool again.

Bless yall!

There are things on comupters that noone can explain. The fault is just of noone. You just have to look in deep into the problem and try to find a solution.

Sometimes I have a problem (e.g. in Access) which I take weeks and even months to solve.

Anger is allowed but tolerance and patience are a virtue with computers
