"1045 Access denied" error...please help!

I'm copying this from another thread...it desparately needed a new subject line.

I'm trying to get closedShop set up on my site, and it's returning an error that I can't quite explain...I'm hoping someone can throw me a bone.

The error I'm getting is:
Could not connect to the mySQL database with DBI:mysql::
1045 Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

...While the configuration I'm submitting is this:
Installation - SQL Database Info
Database Name: (my mySQL database name)
Database Username: (my PowWeb mySQL username)
Database Password: (my PowWeb mySQL password)
Database Location (Only change if you know what you are doing): mysql01.powweb.com (The default for this was localhost.)

I'm KNOW that I'm accessing my database correctly. I log into MySQL-Front with absolutely no problem with the exact same credentials. Why's closedShop being so stubborn?

Even though it looks like you're setting your username/password/... in the configuration file, it's still trying to log into the database as 'root' (the super user).

You really need to get with the support people for closedShop - it's their software and they'd be able to support it better then anyone here.

Well, you can't fault me for being hopeful, right? ;) I'm still nosing around in the scripts to see if I can find something that might cause it to think I'm not logging in correctly. You'd think, though, if more people than me were having this problem, there'd be a blurb about it somewhere...but I can't find anything more than what the developer's already got on his site.

I did find something about mySQL database login problems and passwords that contain special characters -- which mine did -- but MySQL-Front didn't mind the special character. I changed it anyway, and still, MySQL-Front has no problem, but this script does. *shrugs*

I emailed the head programmer honcho for closedShop last night...no response yet, but it's been little more than 12 hours.

I'm still hoping someone here has some past experience with closedShop, but I'll post whatever resolution the developer sends me (if any), in case anyone has this problem in the future.

Thanks, Jeff!
