Please review this web site.....
I'm looking for comments & suggestions for my family home page
http://www.bernardhomepage.com Just getting into html, would like some opinions on backgrounds, load times, things you like or hate.. Thanks in advance |
Larry,
I'm assuming that you designed this for 1024x768 or higher resolution. I use 800x600 and there is a LOT of horizontal scroll for each page. Looking at your source I see several instances of width being set at 800 pixels within your main frame. You may want to consider aligning your headers ie "Trina's Page" center (as you have now) and then aligning your text left. There is quite a lot of empty space between your text and the menu frame border. For a personal / family site, you have a good start, and one thing about a site such as yours, it will change a lot over time :) I loved the hairdo the girls gave you. Just my "For What It's Worth" |
Several of the pics you used as the background look like you cranked up the brightness a little too far. they are very "white". They are hard on the eyes, and it also makes some text very hard to read. These pages would be: main page, larrys page, frostys page, and the photo album.
Secondly, and this one is strictly personal preference, I'm not a fan of having more than one scroll bar on page. On half the pages, the content frame has a scrollbar as well as the navigational frame having a scrollbar. Going along with what (jj) said about resolutions, the scrollable area increases the lower the user has their resolution set. Mine is very high (1800x1440 on a 21 inch monitor), so i know a 800x600 person would be scrolling for a while. just my .02 brian |
Your reviews....
Thanks for the input.
I changed my display to 800x600 & it does require a lot of scrolling. Most people that view my site have 1024x768 or better. I'm leaving it as is for now & put a note on the main page. The background images were intentionally "washed out" because the text was too hard to read. |
