    Collection of Links

Here are some of the most popular links that were posted in the Utilities forum for easy access to those searching for tools and programs.

I tried to check each link to make sure it was still a viable site, but I'm sure I've missed some dead ones.

I believe this would be good to add to the list.

http://www.aida32.hu/aida32-download.php - This site contains a program called AIDA32 - It is freeware (nothing else "hidden" as far as I can tell). Works on basicly all windows based PC's. It will scan your computer, and give you TONS of information on it. (80+ pages).

Where I work, we have a lot of older computers, and donated computers, and I have been running a report on each computer so I know detailed information about the PC. They have 3 versions (all free), and I have been using the Enterprise version with great success - so I figured I would share it with others.

One more to add that I really like! Its called Belarc Advisor. Good for when your working on someones computer who doesn't know anything about what they have for hardware. Its free, and Gives you info on the EXACT hardware you have in there, from the exact module vid card you have, all the way down to the secondary memory cache amount your brain has!

    Enjoy!

    Spyware Removal Tools

    Spyware Removal Tools
    --------------------------------------------------

By far, the best site I've found, as far as having the better tools all in one place and the links aren't dead like many other locations:

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

    HijackThis
    CWShredder
    StartupList
    BHOList
    Kill2Me
    KazaaBegone

    While talking spyware...

    Spybot Search & Destroy:

    Linux Stuff

where's the linux forums??? and help and mac to.. no i dont do mac just linux..
I just moved one of my sites to PowWeb (minutes ago, literally), and even though it's got some major revisions due, you're more than welcome to anything in the downloads section. No programs (well, except for a tiny random signature generator), but many of the docs I've written and posted there are for Linux, as well as networking, PC hardware and general tech-references. They're all free, and some are copyleft.

    The site's URL is http://www.nichedevelopment.com/

Now for a few really good GNU/Linux links:

http://www.tldp.org/ - The Linux Documentation Project (the docs source)
    http://www.oreilly.com/ - O'Reilly (great books)
http://www.sourceforge.net/ - Sourceforge (great software bank)
http://www.freshmeat.net/ - freshmeat (popular software bank)
    http://www.freshrpms.net/ - freshRPMs (contributed RPMs)
http://rpmfind.net/ - RPMfind (find those RPMs)
http://gimp.org/ - The GIMP (my imaging editor of choice)
http://www.vim.org/ - vim (my text editor of choice, great for coding)
http://www.mozilla.org/ - Mozilla (top browsers Mozilla/Firefox, though I also use w3m and lynx)
http://www.tightvnc.com/ - TightVNC (virtual network computing... similar to pcAnywhere)
http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/ - The NTFS Project (dual boot w/ Win2K/XP? Try this!)
http://www.mutt.org/ - Mutt (my mua of choice)
http://www.openoffice.org/ - OpenOffice (office suite that can r/w MS Office files)
http://www.winehq.com/ - Wine (run lots of Win apps in Linux)
http://www.gnupg.org/ - GnuPG (PGP encryption, though I'm biased on this one... I maintain the FAQ. )
http://www.chkrootkit.org/ - Chkrootkit (checks your system for rootkits)
    http://www.toms.net/rb/ - tomsrtbt (Tom's root-boot - Linux floppy)
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ - Ultimate Boot CD (loads of utils, does wonders, available in Win format, too!)
http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ - DamnSmallLinux (great live-distro fits on a 50MB CD. When used with a USB key for storage, all you need is a PC!)
http://counter.li.org/ - The Linux Counter (if you use Linux, please register and get counted!)

Although I've only listed a few of what I consider the more prominent links, they all provide free software/docs for GNU/Linux, FreeBSD, other *nix platforms and many times even Windows.

    Enjoy!
