    pop.powweb.com

I noticed all my mirgrated email accounts
    With a name like
    myemail@mydomain.com

Now have an additional listing for
    myemail@pop.powweb.com

Do I need to keep around the addresses with pop.powweb.com?

Your email addresses myemail@mydomain.com are now forwards to your mailboxes myemail@pop.powweb.com. This is the way Legacy accounts were migrated over, I wouldn't suggest deleting the mailboxes and just leaving the forwards. You could however go through and delete the lot and recreate new mailboxes in the format myemail@mydomain.com. If you do so the username for the new accounts would also be myemail@mydomain.com

My advice would be to leave well alone. The pop.powweb.com ones, are indeed because of the way the accounts were migrated - but no-one should see these in normal use.

Deleting old ones and recreating them will cause you to loose any e-mail on the servers and the webmail address book (if any).

If my email was working, I wouldn't change anything in OPS. Especially now while things are still crazy. If you are worried about how many accounts you have created, that is another matter. But I heard we could have 650 accounts which is more than most people would ever use. Personally, I feel email is too important to delete anything just to make OPS look nice. I would rather have tech support do it, if necessary.

It's written that we have 650 accounts, plus I think it says that in OPS, but Endurance staff on the boards have said a few times we actually have unlimited. (so if you need to go over 650 now, they can probable help you.)

My guess is that after the crazy move is done and things setting down, it sounded like they might get something where the e-mail space is tied to your website space - so if you only use 5% on web, you could use 95% of mail - or whatever. But that was only my impression of other things I've read on these boards so far.

I need more email space than website space, so that works for me. But I know there are others who won't like this.

I didn't change anything and I cannot get any of my email accounts to work.

I went back and tried deleting everything and recreating it. They still won't work.

I'm really sick of this new platform already. I'm finding it a lot more complicated to get anything done or find information.

What specific error are you receiving?

That's the weird part. I know I have e-mail being sent to my account because I have about 20 things sent daily to me. I check my e-mail and and no error and no e-mail found.

So then I tried to re-set things and now I cannot log onto the incoming mail server when I test my settings.

I can only check things if I go to the webmail, but I much prefer using Outlook.

So you ARE having an error now? Outlook receives an error when trying to log on to the server?

What POP (incoming) server are you using? When you reset your accounts, did you use name@yourdomain.com or name@opsname.powweb.com?

When using Outlook (or a similar client) use the following settings:

account id: username@yourdomain.com (instead of just username)
pop server: pop.powweb.com (instead of mail.yourdomain.com)
    password: (as verified in OPS)
smtp server: smtp.powweb.com (instead of mail.yourdomain.com)

    Please report if this worked.

When your migration settles down, you can switch back to mail.yourdomain.com (after a call to support to get it working).

I tried this tactic in Outlook Express and for me it didn't work. In fact, here's the error message:
    ***
There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'Forward - Ahead', Server: 'pop.powweb.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR chdir /home/users/mail/b124/pow.opsname/forward_opsname_if/Maildir failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
    ***

Below is a copy of what I posted in another thread -- originally about new webmail, though somewhat related in concept to Pop access -- and as you seem to be very knowledgeable in this area, here goes

    Question about new webmail:

Under new OPS I created a new pop box called let's say, ahead@mydomain.com (using that as the username, ahead@mydomain.com, instead of creating a box in the old style, which would have been to create username of "ahead" and therefore the box would have looked like ahead@pop.powweb.com). The box now displays as ahead@mydomain.com. No forward.

Now when I try the new webmail, such as at http://email.powweb.com/sqmail/src/login.php, I cannot login to this pop account.

    I try this...

    username: ahead@mydomain.com
password: (password, as verified by OPS)

...and get this "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server"

Why is that? And how to I properly login? Errgh. Thanks for any help.

Okay. I had this same exact error. Reset your password in OPS, then hit the WebMail button to make sure it caught. If it lets you in, try Outlook with that same password.

When creating new accounts, or resettng the password, the password sometimes does not stick, or gets corrupted. This is a known issue to fellow users, yet no response from PowWeb.

progravix, that did the trick. Thanks!

God, my other domain with up to 80 pop users is going to be a b*tch.

Tell me about it. I am on site #4 of 76 (I lost 4 sites to this dang migration), having to reset all the passwords for each user over the phone.

Unable to send the test email. Asking me to verify my email address. I have checked it several times and it is correctly typed in that field.

What email address are you using? Have you reset your password in OPS? What POP and SMTP servers are you using?

Can you get in via webmail? Do you have authentication enabled, and set to use that email and password?

You are using Outlook right? What is the specific error it gives you? Can you receive fine? Is the only error with sending from those accounts?

When I test the settings I have put it, it says it is unable to send the test email and to verify my email address. I have the correct email address though.

    And yes, using outlook.

That is the exact text Outlook is giving you? Can you provide a screen shot of the error?

Sorry for delay posting back. I was putting in a lot of OT at work.

it's seems to maybe be working now for some mail. I have my old settings still and tried using those and got 2 e-mails to send to the old ones. (The new ones still give errors) Though I checked my webmail afterwards and found the rest of my e-mail I had not received. So it seems some e-mail is being sent, just very little of it. And messing with my settings was a bad idea. Unless of course it continues to not work, but it looks like a lot of people here are having issues receiving all of their e-mail.

One of my clients is having problems SENDING email using Outlook since the migration. She is using pop.powweb.com for the incoming mail server, smtp for the outgoing mail server and her username for the name before the @. We are still experimenting with it.

Yvette - have you checked that the password is OK, also - have you looked at how the username is listed in MailCentral?

We got Judy's problem resolved. She had to change the outgoing port from 25 to 587.
