Images missing after pointing to domain

I installed Joomla (1.58) in a directory http://spinalinjury.net/joomla15/ of my site to test out. I decided it would work for me and just pointed a domain http://spinalinjuryportal.net (both hosted on the same account with PoWeb) to the directory and all the images are missing when viewing thru spinalinjuryportal.net. It's not just the images in the articles which i can fix but even the component images are missing like the editor for example.

New to the CMS how should i go about fixing this?

This often happens when you change domains or paths on database driven apps. The image path is correct but Joomla doesn't know it. Go through the admin panel looking for anywhere you may have neglected to change the domain or path. From memory one place is in Joomla's administration console (domain.com/joomla/administrator) and click Site configuration (or Website configuration) on the main menu.

Also check for a .htaccess that is restricting hotlinking.

    http://spinalinjuryportal.net/images...mailButton.png returns a 0 sized response.

    http://spinalinjury.net/joomla15/ima...mailButton.png works.

There is also a config file in the root of the directory you have it installed in that should have the path in it and you can modify it directly if you can't find it in Joomla's admin.

Trying to use the OPS center to check was pointless. Looking under Hotlink Protection showed this but claimed it was not enabled and deleting the entry and clicking 'save' didn't work.

    Code:
    Allow access from these URLs:
    http://spinalinjury.net/
    http://www.spinalinjury.net/
    http://spinalinjuryportal.net/
    http://www.spinalinjuryportal.net/
    http://billyrad.powweb.com/

Protect these extensions: gif jpg png
So i used my FTP program and removed the entries that way but it still shows up in OPS (Don't understand) and images are still missing. The only other .htaccess i found was this containing my custom error pages and dunno what the rest does

    Code:
    ErrorDocument 400 http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/page_error.html
    ErrorDocument 403 http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/page_error.html
    ErrorDocument 404 http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/page_error.html
    ErrorDocument 408 http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/page_error.html
    ErrorDocument 500 http://www.spinalinjury.net/html/page_error.html

    Options -Indexes

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://spinalinjury.net.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !billyrad.powweb.com
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.spinalinjury.net.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.spinalinjury.net/index.html.*$ [NC]
    RewriteRule .(gif|jpg|png)$ - [F]

Croc, tried entering different relative and absolute paths with no luck. Since http://spinalinjuryportal.net is just pointed i cant view the directory structure and not sure what to put. No help from joomla support yet. Glad you guys are here.

entrecon, looked at the config file and the only paths i found to change except for DB stuff were $log_path, $tmp_path and $ftp_root. I was half asleep tho so i'll look again.

Try renaming the .htaccess and see if that corrects the problem.

Ha! That worked. The http://spinalinjuryportal.net site is working just like the directory now. What's strange is it wasn't the hotlinking .htaccess but the one with my custom error pages in it.

Thanks to everyone for the help....
