Lightbulb Looking for new portal/script for web site.

Greetings! My site has been hosted on Powweb for what feels like forever, been happy with the service and feel it's time to upgrade my software.

Site is 4WD Links dot Com, it's a links site of off road/4X4/Jeep related web sites. Started many many moons ago as a links page on my Geocities website that grew into it's own entity.

I current use a script that is no longer supported.

What I want to do it add new features and improved security. I get 10-25 automated submissions of porn sites, etc that I have to manually clear out.

What I'm looking for is a site that can display the links similar to what I have now with a easy to use menu system to navigate to other content. I want the links to be accessed without logging in but to submit a link you will have to create a user ID, part of this process should have a security measure to stop automated entries.

I use Gallery 2 to host photo albums, some are public and some are private, so ability to access Gallery 2 would be nice.

I know almost nothing about programming so it would have to be easy to set up or with a good support forum.

    Thanks!

    Mark

    Welcome!
Note that the first 5 posts (10 if they have a link) are held in a moderation queue and because of the global nature of these forums (and currently it's Christmas) it can take some time before your posts are visible.

The web address you've provided gives a blank page, so something is wrong.

Apparently an extra "d" snuck in on the address given. Try http://www.4wdlinks.com/ instead.

Downloaded and installed the free version of php Link Directory. Took some doing get the links from my Superlinks database to the phpLD database, had to save the database as a Excel spread sheet, convert to a comma delimited csv file, modify the tables from Superlinks to phpLD and then break it up into sections to inport using the MySQL admin panel. Found groups of 200 entries at a time was the best route, was able to identify errors and correct them, anything over 200 was difficult to manage.

New site is up but not public as I want to modify the theme/index page.

    Review if you dare, http://www.4wdlinks.com/phpLD/

Hope it's spelled right this time. First issue I noticed is phpLD script appears to load slower then the Superlinks script... could be me or my connection.
