    Public statistics

    Hello,
I have recently hit a little snag with my website, and it concerns AWStats. I am trying to make it so anyone can view my website stats (without allowing them access to anything else but the stats), I don't know if this possible, but I want to try it anyway. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to do this.
BTW, AWStats was already installed when I bought my domain and hosting from PowWeb, I did not manually install it.
    Cheers,
    ogloc42

I believe your stats are public using the following URL:

    http://<username>.powweb.com/stats/

That URL requires you to log into OPS.

I would expect you would have to install a stats package in a public facing directory to allow access.

I wonder if you could setup a scheduled job to copy the needed files to a public directory?

You can setup awstats in your hosting account with only a little hassle.

Then you setup a scheduled job in your control panel to run every night so that you have updated stats for your visitors to look at.

My client wants web stats for two different websites on the same account. I wasn't sure if I could separate the stats for each website using the same or two different programs. I haven't tried this in a long time. Also, I would prefer them NOT to be public, so I may need to use .htaccess and password protection. Has anyone recently got all of these things to work here?

It doesn't look like that's possible.

The log files in the stats folder dont have a way to tell which domain the request was for. All you have to go by is the file name that was requested and the referer.

I believe I have found a way to make my stats public. I made a sub domain pointing to my stats folder, which seems to actually work. This is with Webalizer stats though, waiting to try it out with AWStats.

Making statistics visable to the public is passing out invitations to be swamped and hacked. At least password protect it for all our sake, please.

    Hi ogloc
I hope you succeed, but don't forget to remind people you never fiddled the figures yourself!!
