    stretching a background graphic

haven't been around in a while but some where in my past i remember a way but dont remember how to do it .

to where one could use a graphic as a background and have it stretch or shrink to fit the different screens that viewed that one html page.

    any body got suggestions?

The various CSS workarounds listed here, stretching a background graphic - Google Search, are similar to each other. The only other way I know of is to use an image that is large to begin with..

Stretching an image isn't really a great idea. Usually it will distort and could be too big in size for the viewport/device.
