    Simple document handling on website

I have a number of documents I would like to put on the web. I'm looking for something simple to do for documents what Picassa does for photos. IE find the files, assemble a piece of html code to link to the document and an unidexed list.

I don't wish to simply have the files available via a list, I would wish to eventually put a little more info on the page, maybe a a date of uploading, file size, general topics etc.

I wish for this 'assembly/collation' task to be done locally (on my computer) and to be able to use a html editor to change the resultant file order etc. I wish for most of the handling to be done automatically, but locally.

    Any ideas?

Maybe you could write a php script to do this locally on your pc.
