    constantly changing index page

When I think of blogs I think of a constantly updating main page like the index. What effect does this have on search engine recognition and page rank. The situation im thinking of would be a food site with recipes. The most recent update would be put on the index.html page with links to the other older recipes. Then a week later a new recipe would be put on the index.html and the older recipe would then move to a backpage available via link. Im just curious what effect a constantly changing home index.html page would have with google?
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

As long as it's similar content with same topic keywords throughout, cooking, recipe etc Google tends to like homepage updates.
