    PowerPoint Presentation

Our site is a Family Photo and History Albumn and for the last ten years I've been happily going along uploading thousands of files
These are usually in the 'jpg' - 'gif' - 'wmv' - 'flv' and 'pdf' formats and these all work perfectly ... though at times I've had to ask for help here, especially when first using the 'flv' files

Anyway, for the first time, I have just tried a PowerPoint Presentation ... a 'pptx' file

It uploaded okay and seemed to link properly but when I click on the link it wants to download a 'zip' file ... and I don't know "how-where-why" this is happening !!

Naturally I want it to commence playing the Presentation

I did download this 'zip' file and it seems to contain all the photos and information in this Presentation ... but I also can't get that to play, etc ... plus it seems a bit of a roundabout way of viewing the file

I guess I have got something basically wrong ... can anyone give me a hand ??

To have a look for yourself, click HERE and then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page

    Thanks ...... Geoff

try saving it as a powerpoint show (pps, not ppsx for people with older versions of powerpoint). I think if someone doesnt have powerpoint installed, they can download a viewer.

I get a bunch of text when I click on the link (firefox on mac), something is amiss! If I save the link, I get the pptx file. Try it with a small file first for testing, to see if sheer file size is part of the problem.

    Working Now !!

    THANKS, tpoynton

As you suggested, I saved it with a different file extension to the 'pptx'

It would not save as a 'pps' but it did with 'ppt' ... and I have no idea what the difference is !!

All worked on my computer, so uploaded it ... and yes, it works
After clicking on the link, there is the option to "run" or "save" ... I clicked "run" and after downloading, it started up perfectly !!

Both links are still on the web page as per my original post ... I will get it updated and finalised soon

    Appreciate your suggestion !!

    Regards ...... Geoff

glad it works to your satisfaction; pptx is the office 2007 and later file extension (short version), and saving as ppt ensures it works on all versions of office.
