    Question GIF vs J.PEG

Do animated GIF's offer any SOE advantage over J.PEG's?

I rarely do anything with image search, but I've never seen or heard anything that would lead me to believe that animated gifs would ever tend to rank better than jpgs. These days, Google pays a lot of attention to image quality, and since gifs are limited to a 256-color palette, I think you're starting off with a handicap by using them for anything but clip-art or decorative accents. Check out the filters available to users in image search and consider how they might apply to animated gifs. They'll also give you some clues about how they evaluate images.

Right...thats it...I'm taking my home page back to a single image J.Peg! Thanks for this.
