    SSI and .htaccess

Powweb has upgraded Apache according to a support person I talked to. As a result, if you were running Server Side Includes but using .htaccess to keep *.htm(l) filenames your site may have been somewhat broken. Not Powweb's fault, just the new Apache way of doing things. Here's the "old" code I had that had been working for 10+ years:
    AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .htm
    Options +Includes
This told the server to parse all pages with a .htm extension as .shtml (pages with SSI)

It all broke sometime in the last 24 hours.

After talking with support and getting a couple of hints since SSI is not "officially supported" I found some .htaccess code to deal with this on the Apache website. After adapting it to my needs I found that this works in the Powweb environment:
    Options +Includes
    AddType text/html .shtml
    AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .htm
Change .htm to .html to suit your needs.

Hope this helps someone in the same situation. Although I'm probably the last person on Earth running SSI on a straight HTML site .

but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying,
    "Damn... that was fun!"
