    A little HTML help

    I am trying to get this contact page to work. Here is a link to a picture of the code, everything looks setup but every time I hit the submit button nothing happens. I am trying to get this to e-mail a specific address but I don't see where to put that address in at.

    Thanks

    How do you keep a programmer in the shower all day?
    Give him a bottle of shampoo which says "lather, rinse, repeat."

    Code:
    <form id="ajax-contact-form" action="javascript:alert('success!');">
    Normally the action="" attribute points to a form handling script which takes all the inputs and e-mails or stores them or both. All you're doing with yours is popping up a javascript alert. Powweb has a script you can install via OPS. I think it's a modified of Matt's FormMail. Alternately you could find one at hotscripts.com and install it yourself.

    You also have some stray <em> tags below:
    Code:
    <button type="submit" class="submit">submit<em></em></button>
    You may want to consider changing to:
    Code:
    <input class="submit" type="submit" value="submit" />
    This has nothing to do with your question, but HTML5 offers a bunch of new form attributes that really help clean up coding. For example, you have a bunch of javascript in your inputs to show and hide "hints". You can replace all of that with the placeholder="blah" attribute.
    Code:
    <input type="email" name="email" placeholder="Your email:" />
    Also note the type="email" attribute. In modern browsers that will trigger an automatic validation of that input. In mobile browsers (well at least iPhone Safari ) it will also bring up the keyboard with the @ and .com keys. Cool stuff.

    Good luck,
    Kevin
    A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...
    but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying,
    "Damn... that was fun!"
