Angry How long do htacces changes take effect?

30-40 minutes ago, I added a new htaccess line - basically to make a short URL.

    Code:
    RewriteRule ^updates/(.*)$ /view_updates.php?page=$1 [NC]
    RewriteRule ^updates$ /view_updates.php?page=1 [NC]

    # ErrorDocument 404 http://events.DOMAIN.com/
However when i put /updates in the URl, - it bounces back to my main page of the subomain.

about 15 minutes ago I added the hash # to the alst line - but it is STILL bouncing abck to my subdomain name.

    1) If a change is amde to htaccess - how long does it take effect - to allow you to update/make changes to your website...

If the URL wont work, i cant see if my new page works or not...

    2) what do i put in front of an htaccess line to ignore it. Is the # hash the right thing ?

.htaccess changes should take effect immediately. Are you calling RewriteEngine first?

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    -bruce /* somdcomputerguy */
'If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.'
