    Web site backup

    Hi All
and this might seem like a stupid / dumb question but I'm not an expert so need to ask !!
I have two web sites with PowWeb ... both are Family + Family History + Photo Albumns
There are thousands, and I mean thousands, of bits of info and photos on the two sites
After each FTP Update / Upload, I back up to three separate USB Sticks ... just for safety !!
I saw the PowWeb Service linked below
Has anyone used this ... is it as Easy and as Good as it sounds ??

    .
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME ... regards, Geoff

    Not Very Good ??

Over 360 people looked at this post
And not one said "Yes, I use this Program"
So I can only guess that "It Is Not Very Good" !!
    .
On Thursday I also wrote to PowWeb via their "Contact Us" forms
Even they did not answer !!
    .
Ah well, will go and look elsewhere !!

    Hello Geoff,

I'm sorry you haven't received any response to your question. On the other hand 360 views != 360 live human beings.

I've always considered backing up my responsibility. In which case you have that in spades!

As a non-answer to your question though, I haven't used the service. After scanning the opening page it seems the advantage they offer is speed of reloading a backup. Depending on how many "thousands of bits of info and photos" you have it may take you days to FTP all of that back to your site and have it all working as intended.

Is the monthly fee worth it to not have to do that in the (what I consider) very rare instance something goes horribly wrong? Only you can answer that.

    Good luck,
    Kevin
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...
but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying,
    "Damn... that was fun!"

    Thanks !!

    Hi to you, "Builder"
    Appreciate your note and comments
Yep, will probably give it a go ... $75.35 for three years is okay
I look at this and my own USB Sticks backups as just "safety" !!
Just surprised that no-one has signed up
Maybe you are right with this ... "very rare instance something goes horribly wrong"

I didn't answer you Geosha for the same reason, never used it. With several free FTP programs that allow you to que files for download I figure most just fire them up and let run overnight. The recommended max website size here being 15GB it should only take 15 minutes to a few hours unless you're on dial-up. Don't forget to backup your databases as well. My regards to you and your wife.

I am not sure what this means but if it refers to our Beautiful Daughter Tanya, it is lovely and very kind
    Thanks ... Geoff and Sharon
