Thumbs up PHP 5.4.0 Released!

The PHP development folks have provided PHP 5.4.0. The release is a "major leap forward" in PHP, and includes a large number of new features and bug fixes -- not the least of which is greatly improved performance and reduced memory consumption.

See this link where I announced the release of PHP 5.3.0 (three years ago to the day).

Shameful powweb. We have since moved all our commercial development and production out of powweb's hosting.

We implemented PHP 5.3.0 a short while back but only recently announced it here.
There is not an ETA at this time for 5.4.0 being implemented. I'm sorry to hear you had to move and we are sorry to see you go. If you need any help in the future please let us know.

PHP 5.4.0 is not compatible with lot of application. I think we need to wait for some time.

When it is implemented Shrupa I'm sure we will continue with our normal procedure of having a drop-down and list of different approved versions available so you can choose.

An ETA is unlikely to be given here, that isn't the practice of Powweb. If, or when, there's to be an update we'll be told by other channels such as e-mail/newsletter (if you're subscribed) or an 'Announcement' in OPS.

Hi Ian, thanks for that. I have had a response from powweb, "maybe in the near future", always worth asking, not that I feel very much the wiser!

Powweb have made PHP Version 5.4.3 available to me on Saturday, so it really was the very near future. Thanks.
