Gallery & PHP 5.5 or Alternate

My existing Gallery 3.0.8 (I think) photo album appears to be non-functional with the change by Powweb to PHP 5.5, as I expected - in fact it failed previously just going to PHP 5.3.

Does anyone know if it is possible to configure it and/or Powweb PHP 5.5 in order for it to run again?

Alternately, can anyone recommend a simple photo album application to replace Gallery on Powweb? TIA

Mark

It's possible to set, within a limited range, the PHP version you need in OPS:
https://ops.powweb.com/controlpanel/...nt/PHPplus.bml

You can also edit the php.ini file on the same page. Do so at your own risk.

If you need PHP 4, as far as I know this filename syntax/extension still works:
filename.php4
At least it did a couple of months ago before I upgraded a couple of really grizzly-old scripts.

I know next to nothing about Gallery. Is it possible to upgrade to a newer version which supports 5.3/5.5?

FYI, the latest/greatest PHP version is 7 (I think).

Good luck and Happy New Year!
Kevin

I use TinyWebGallery, but simple might be defined differently by you and me. Sometimes I find TWG to be not as simple as I'd like it to be..

Thanks for the prompt replies -

Builder - The OPS panel will still allow use of PHP 5.3; but Gallery 3.0.8 still will not work (500 Internal Server Error). The default php.ini file appears to be ok; there are only a few published php.ini values required for Gallery and the defaults seem to be correct. Given that Gallery support/development is gone, replacement seems the only logical solution.

If memory serves, Powweb originally had Coppermine as an available option, then Gallery, now they don't appear to have/recommend any photo album?

Snowmaker - The TinyWebGallery website is not clear; does it function (well) with just registration, or do you also need to buy a license?

I've never 'bought' anything to get it to work just fine for me, although I am aware of a few extra features that one gets with the 'paid for' version.

Another option may be Single File PHP Gallery. I've got it installed on my website mostly for members to upload photos. But used to its fullest extent it may work for you.

That reminds me of this script - galerie.php, which I have used before. The one that Kevin posted a link to has more features, which you may or may not want or need, but not using a feature that isn't needed probably wouldn't cause that script to be slower than this one. Oh yeah, and adding an image to this gallery is as simple as just uploading an image, and can be just as simple for TWG.

Builder,

I went with Single File PHP Gallery. Enough functionality for what was needed and installation is simplicity itself.

Can't argue about the simplicity of installation. For someone like me it needs to be!

Good luck!
