Image thumbnails

Is there a "simple" and automatic way to have image thumbnails displayed when accessing a folder via HTTP?

By simple I mean without having family members have to resort to using one of the gallery type applications. It's a simple matter for them to be able to add subfolders and images to the folders I have set up for them using FTP.

But it would be nice if there was a way to have something similar to the "View" option under Windows Explorer, that gave them the choice of seeing the folder with thumbnail icons or the detailed list like we get now.

Thanks

Thank you very much "snowmaker" (I assume you're an avid skiier? )

I've downloaded the script and will try it after I go shopping.

One question.......I assume I have to put a copy in each image subfolder; is that correct?

That's not much of a problem, really. I'll just have to watch and see if a family member adds a subfolder and add a copy of it.

Thanks again.....

Actually, I've never been on skies (water or snow). I used to work on Mt. Killington when I lived in Vermont, I was a 'snowmaker'..

The script will pick up any subdirectories, you only need one copy in the 'main' directory.

OK "Snowmaker" You're close enough to know how to spell 'Poughkeepsie"

That sounds good, I'll experiment now that I have finished shopping and parked my ark for the day.

My setup looks like the following:

Family
--GrandPa
--GrandMa
--Son1
--Daughter1
--Son2
--Daughter2

And within each subfolder they are free to create additional levels.

Access is either to Family for family and friends who are to view anything, or to individual 2nd level folders if that person wants to restrict access to a subset of friends.

Now I have time to experiment some more. I did try one quick one and liked the display it provided.

Thanks again......

BTW, I started another thread about the "galerie.php" script to describe what it does in a little more detail in the hope that it may help others who are looking for something simple.

Thanks again to "Snowmaker" for telling me about it.
