OE attachments gray out

My friend's cable connection was down the other day, and back to normal later, but since then he couldn't click any attachment due to the grayed out attachment. If double click the mail, OE says it won't open the unsafe files. Checked google/groups for answers to no avail. Thank you for any input.

Security

have a look in oe- tool/options/secutity thereis a check box there that says something about allowing attachments to be opened. be wary there are some new viruses on the scene, see earlier posts. Update your definitions first, then do a full scan

oe may have spotted a virus but as its is not an antivirus program as such it doesn't know what to do with them as it has no accurate database unlike an a/v program

It won't let any attachment to open/save, so I have to uncheck the option in Security about "do not allow...file to open or save"...

I suspect something triggered or my friend accidentally checked that box causing not being able to open any attachment.

I have install AVG antivirus for him, on top of existing Norton. Thanks.
