Unhappy FTP really hates me!

I have had no problems with my FTP95 at all until now...for some reason it just doesnt want to connect...and I really need to get things completed on my site...can someone please tell me what is going on or if I am doing something wrong...and why it will not connect for me?

Thanks,
Ang

Hi Ang

If it was working here before and you have not changed any of your configuration then it should still be working. It might just be that the FTP server took a little rest at the time you wanted to access it.

While you are waiting to see if the server comes back online ( if it was actually down) you might check your settings to be sure nothing somehow "jumped".

If you believe it is not your settings or your server, than it might be other issues. I would suggest logging into OPS and checking your history and make sure there are no billing problems or letters from the Admins regarding violations of Powweb Policies.

Hope that helped a little

Dale,

Thanks for your input...that is something that I will check out...and yes I did double and tripled checked to see if anything was change or jumped and everything is still the same...I will go to opw and see if anything was left for me.

Many Thanks,
Ang

have you installled a firewall

if so you may need to adjust your ftp client to passive and allow it access through the fw

Hi there Angel!

Another thing you can do is try using another FTP program to see if you can connect using it. Sometimes one particular program just does not seem to like connecting for some strange reason.

A program that I've recommended here on the boards has been SmartFTP. It's a pretty good program you can get from http://www.smartftp.com.

Good luck!

sounds silly, but rather than using a graphic FTP package (much more user friendly) as a simple troubleshooting attempt, have you pulled up a DOS prompt and typed ftp <server> (replace <server> with the server you are trying to attach to), you should then get a user name prompt, and you can log in that way. If you can login with the command prompt FTP, then the problem is with your graphical package and you may want to reinstall or look for a new one. If you can't connect that way, Try pinging the server (ping <server>) if the server times out, then you have to find out where the connection is broke, or is the esrver down, if it responds and you can't connect with FTP, then it's time to get Tech support (POWWEB) involved. I know a lot of people don't like the command prompt, but it really is a POWERFUL tool.
