Logitech Mouse

I purchase a Logitech Optical mouse, and when I try to install the software for it, I get the following error:

Quote:
Setup failed to launch installation engine:

Error loading type library/DLL

I emailed Logitech tech support, but I figure I'd get a quicker response here.

Any idea what I have to do to fix it?

Thanks

It says I need a file (Stdole32.tlb) from a fellow Windows 98 user. Can someone who reads this please email me that file? I also will need to know what folder it came from so that I can put it in the same folder on my computer.

My email: webmaster@frequencyproductions.com

Okie Dokie

Ok, the file is "in the mail" or will be as soon as I type this.

On a Win98 system it goes into the Windows\System directory so I'm presuming that you should be able to put it into your \System directory as well.

By the way, I'm zipping the file just so any filtering will not see it as a virus.

I got the software installed, but now when I start my computer, the mouse goes undetected, so I'm forced to use my old mouse AHHHHHH!! sooooo frustrating...

I never thought installing a mouse would be this hard.....

Before reinstalling the mouse driver, you should have deleted the mouse from the device manager. Reboot the PC and let Win9x redetect it. Also in device manager make sure you have no devices that are conflicting. just uninstall the mouse once again and then reboot your system then just install it once again and see if that works.

read this it might help

I read it somewhere so posting it for you...

I had the same F---ing problem like 3 days ago. Start windows - mouse doesn't work - windows installs drivers - mouse doesn't work - restart windows - mouse works - restart windows - mouse doesn't work..... It finally stopped though. Here's what happened. Windows and I both were trying to install mouse drivers that didn't want to work with the mouse. I have a logitech mouse. When I installed windows I selected "logitech serial mouse" and it worked fine until I got tired of having 2 directories for my MouseWare and Mouse drivers. So I reinstalled MouseWare to the later directory and removed the MouseWare directory. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Now when I booted to dos to make sure my dos mouse driver was still working right, the mouse driver tried to load twice. Damn, I didn't like that sooooooo. I completely removed my mouse drivers directory. Which was still ok because that was installed by MouseWare setup, But then I did the very stupid. Went to system and removed the mouse windows had setup. That's when the problems stated. Windows restarted and installed the driver I wanted "logitech serial mouse", the mouse was working at this point. Restarted and Boom the mouse didn't work. Trust me it's a real B--ch to navigate windows with the keyboard. This went on for a few times and after about 10 restarts and some troubleshooting. I got my mouse to work for good. --sorry about the rambling-- If your mouse is a serial, stop trying to install the driver your supposed to or want. Just install the driver for a standard serial mouse. I don't know why, but if I try to install the original "logitech serial mouse" driver the mouse will not work when I restart. It maybe a little annoying to have "standard serial mouse" listed, but at my mouse frekin works. --sorry about rambleing-- Hope this helps and teaches a lesson.

Angry

I can't get it to work
Maybe it's the computer's fault, it's always the computer's fault when I can't do something...

Anyways, maybe I'll just give in and have an expert look at it. Unless someone from the board would like to come over and do it for me. I can't afford your plane ticket, but you could camp out in my backyard
