Question Cdrom

Recently my CDROM just stopped working. I thought that maybe the CDROM went bad. I have a few slow ones laying around that I know works. Swapped out 2 or 3 and still I can't get it to work. Changed the flat ribbon cable and still nothing. What can I try next or what do you think is the problem. This machine is less than a year old.

Greatful for your help,
jcommons

have you got another machine ?

see if it works in there, or if another cd works in the original machine

( a bit of lateral thinking!!)

Your keyword was

Hi jcommons,

Your keyword(s) were "Less than a year old".

Most all computers have a one year or more warranty. So before you do too much that might void it, I'd suggest you check to see if it is still under warranty.

Beyond that, what Operating System are you using? It helps us to be able to tell you what steps to take for doing any trouble shooting.

CD ROMs do die

Warranties are a great thing, especially if the unit dies while still inside the warranty period. I hope that is your case.

I have replaced two CD ROMs recently that just stopped working, too. They seemed to be trying so hard, but read nothing. Replacing them was the answer. Everything was fine after that.
