why don't microsoft....

...add useful tweaks into a product when it's shipped ?

a case in point is this (THIS INVOLVES A REGISTRY CHANGE, DO NOT PERFORM THIS UNLESS YOU ARE AU FAIT WITH THE REGISTRY !! AND DO DO DO BACK UP)

here is an really usefull tweak for W2K ( i haven't checked it on anything else) basically it adds a "copy to" option when you right click on a file in explorer, rather like "send to" but it now brings up a really neat window allowing you to copy to any folder, no more cut and paste

Start the registry editor (Regedit.exe)

Move to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\Con textMenuHandlers

From the Edit menu select New - Key

Enter a name of 'Copy To' (don't type the quotes) and press Enter

Move to the 'Copy To' key and double click on the (Default) value

Set to {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}. Click OK

Close the registry editor

Restart Explorer for the change to take effect (you don't need to reboot)

If you now right click on a file/folder an option to copy to folder will be listed

now this is so simple and handy why the hell do we have to go through this arcane registry tweak to have it ??

oh yes...

and "move to"..

Its possible to add a context menu option to move a file to a folder by adding the following registry key:

Start the registry editor (Regedit.exe)

Move to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\Con textMenuHandlers

From the Edit menu select New - Key

Enter a name of 'Move To' (don't type the quotes) and press Enter

Move to the 'Move To' :-) key and double click on the (Default) value

Set to {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}. Click OK

Close the registry editor

Restart Explorer for the change to take effect (you don't need to reboot)

If you now right click on a file/folder an option to move to folder will be listed.
