FTPd but could not see page

Hi all :
I just activated my site and now shows 'under construction'. I ftp my files and created an index.html but my site still shows the same 'under construction' page.
What am I missing here?

did you upload to the "htdocs" directory?

all public files need to be in the htdocs directory to be viewable. Also you may want to delete the index.html page there before uploading your site.

Exclamation Index.html

There is an index.html file in your directory, the one setup by powweb.com - just over right it.

If there's no such file upload an index.html in the "htdocs" directory and your site will preview.

Then I don't think you were looking in the htdocs folder!!

Because that is where the "Under Construction" page is located, and you said that even after uploading your files, that the "Under Construction" page was still there.

Check again and make sure that ALL files that you want to be viewed are INSIDE the htdocs folder. There should have been the one index.html file there when you first FTP'd into your site.

p.s. When you post with a problem, it's a good idea to post your URL so that the ones trying to help can see if the problem is just something on your end. Like your site being cached and you are not seeing the changes.

I'm quite positive that I'm in the 'htdocs' directory. Per the ftp tool, all my files are under the /www/b/bzad/htdocs directory.
I just created a new index.html file under that since I don't think I saw one earlier (?).
Since the site just went active about 4 hours ago, I'm using the temporary url at http://bzadcom.powweb.com I tried ctrl-f5 but still se the construction page

I'm seeing the "Construction" page also.

Ok then, what FTP program are you using? Are you setting your FTP program as per your Powweb "Welcome Email"?

I'm using ws_ftp le.
I just hope that the directory assigned to me for ftp is the actually the same path being used by my site because even without the index.html, the old page still shows.
I had changed my internet setting to check for newer version during each page visit.

For whatever reason I discovered that there are 2 htdocs directory. The path given to me by powweb for ftp is not the correct htdoc path.
The issue is now resolved.
Thanks to all your quick and insightful response !!
