subdomain pointing to file error

I have a subdomain pointing to a file and for some reason I am having some problems including another file in my htdocs directory, where the file is that the subdomain is pointing to. I am using the PHP include() and I just get some wierd errors, I looked in the tutorials but that was for directory subdomain direction, where as I am just pointing to a file. Any ideas?
