For your enjoyment...

Hi all,

I'm a new member here, though I've looked to the powweb forums in the past for help with my powweb account.

If anyone is interested (or just bored), I am the creator of a weekly serial webcomic at http://www.friendlyskies.net. Please give it a visit and let me know what you think!

I understand this is a critique/review thread, but there's not really anything flashy to critique on my site as far as html goes; just thought I'd get the word out.

See ya,

Marc C.

And the plot thickens

That's great.
A nice change from the boring flashy html sites.
My bro and I used to draw cool robot drawings as kids so love the little robot on note paper... image is mightier than the pen... Can you bump the intro and chapter 1 text up to match the rest is easier to read. It's all 800x600 friendly except the intro ?. And navigation would be good if had
<previous chapter - next chapter> on every page with
<previous chapter 1-2-3 next chapter> on last page for review.

Heaps of fun.
See you next week.

There has only been one "online comic" that I've ever bothered going back to read on a regular basis. But now, there are 2 of them in my bookmarks to keep tabs on.

Very well done, and shows your talent, not only as a artist, but as a web designer as well.

I like the design and simplicity of your site. The color scheme looks like it will work - layout will get more complicated the more chapters you add - you may want to look at doing it in the form of a 3 column 4 row table - or some other fashion since your chapters will grow over time.

Now for the subjective stuff - (* foolish note: the above was completely subjective as well *)

Perhaps layout and storyline wise you shouldn't foreshadow so much in your logo at the top of the first page. The art itself is interesting - but the major issue I'm seeing is that this is not in reallity a comic for the first couple of chapters.

Chapter 1 - two panels and captions under the panels tell the story, not the art.
Chapter 2 - 4 panels (6 if you count the 2 clocks at top), again story told in captions under the panels, the art and drawing itself tells no story, just provides background.
Chapter 3 - Here is where it becomes a comic - but a couple of layout issues - keep the dialog inside the boxes, especially if you'd like eventually to turn this into print. You'll never know where you need to cut a panel.
Overall, this looks like it could grow into a bigger story, I would like to be able to fast forward several months to see how the drawings themselved mature and become more "styled"
