To be honest....
I don't think all that many people either have a webcam, or will be trusting enough to do what the site asks someone to do. I know I turned mine off when I saw the site. You really might wanna tell people up-front why they should have one turned on. What is the purpose of it? You might want to put that out in front too - instead of having to search for the link. I imagine you are trying to show off what your mx is capable of - how about a screen shot of it or something on the front to greet people with what they would see - so they have some idea of what you intend to do. |

i figured out a way to take a temporay picture using a users web cam in flash mx, with out the use of flash communication server it is immpossible to send information from a user's webcam over the web to another user...i am hosting on powweb hence no flash com server
i understand the comment though, maybe a screen shot would help understand though the site is meant as an art style online portfolio so the links are a little ambigious to get the user to visit everything soon i will be adding more flash projects, ones that don't require a web cam. the cam project was a senior project for a new media art class in college thanks for the comments keep em coming schleifnet |

It would be cool to try it, but I don't have a web cam.

That's what I thought your site was aimed at.... I'm sure the setup will be alot clearer once you get some more stuff up and running. BTW, did your site say that you used a camera() function in flash? It's a cool script idea for sure.... |

break out the flash books guys
look up the camera object this object was mainly added to flash to allow connectivity btwn users through flash communication server it is very cool you can very easily do full motion video teleconferencing and you can vary the pixelation etc based on a user's bandwidth, very cool eh? if you guys want i can post the swf for download on my site so you can go offline and view the project without fear(for the paranoid, but trust me ok?) anyway more to come thanks comments are very appreciated schleifnet |

Cool ... although the javascript made it impossible to select the "allow" or "deny" button, cause everytime I clicked on it, the window just closed (WIN, IE 6). I had to load the seniorfinal file directly into the browser to see the effects.

I don't have a camera either--no need for one. Most people don't have one. What does your site do?

see above
as i said above the site utilized the camera object in flash mx to create an artistic animation including picture captures moving around the screen and motion capture that animates the camera views based on the amount of movement in front of the camera, but if you don't have a camera then the site will be little use to you for now soon i will be posting some of my older flash projects and some of my current web design work though
thanks for the comments, keep em coming schleifnet |
