Quota of pop mails 10 or 100
Why does my quota on pop3 control panel have only 10 when powweb announced 100. I suspect this beacuse I just signed in february 9 2002. Please clarify this so I wont get worried. Let me tell you something this is my first web hosting and I think I made the best decision to join Powweb. Excelent service from the first day and solve problems in no time. Of course I´m gonna recommend you guys with other people in Guatemala.
Congrats again, |

The 10 quota is for disk space for a pop acct, not the number of pop accts you are allowed. If I understand it correctly, that gives you 10 meg storage for each of the 100 pop accts allowed.

Thanks, now you know i´m a newbie.
I supose this affects the overall 200 Mb of disk assigned by powweb, right? If this is the case, do you know how can I control de disk space used by the pop user on its account, any program, or powweb support for this matter? |

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but the mail quota does not count against your disk space or transfer quota from your site.
Your disk usage should be availible from OPS in the ftp section. |

As far as I know, your mail accounts and any space that they use counts against your 200MB webspace.

Per the faq. 10 MB X 100 pop accts would be 1 gig.. Not saying your wrong VBman, but tis fairly murky water to me. Maybe admin can clear it up for us. |

The Pop accounts would be over and above the total alloted 200MB for webspace. Notice it's 200MB of webspace, not email space. |

FYI: your mail quota does not count against your disk (web) quota.

Starr,
I've had my entire account cleaned out. All folders and emails were deletedd by PowWeb. I recieved an email from support (after I contacted them about it) that reads: "Hi Michael, If any account was over 50 mb's, I believe there were some scripts that adjusted these mail accounts. Every pop is restricted to 10 mb's worth of mail. Please let us know if you need anything else. Nicholas I. Technical Support Powweb Inc. " However, I only have 2 accounts, which combined had less than 1 MB total of email. What gives? Is PowWeb now deciding to delete anything they wish? |

No POP3 box is touched unless it is over 25 MB in size. If your mail box was under 10 MB, it wasn’t anything on our end that deleted it.

I don't know if you are even able to check how much space you have used in each account. PowWeb should think about adding this feature, not only to the OPS, but possibly also to each email in the account when accessed through webmail.

I support your comentary, there has to be a way to control your mail space in order to delete what is not neccesary and what is.
Thanks anyway for your information. |

Pull your mail
I always pull all of my mail from the server.....
Using outlook... and several other programs I'm sure... you can create seperate identities.... then pull the mail into them... to keep it seperate......"BACK IT UP".... ect..... but that's just me.... I also wrote a vbscript... that logs me on in the morning... while coffee is being made.... checks all of my accountss.... and pulls all the mail off of the server..... Pretty neat.... I only use the web-mail.... when I'm away from home... and that way... only mail that hans't been downloaded is there.... if there is something I need.... I forward it to an account.... I setup specifically for holding mail..... so it's there if I need it.... I know they do backups of the sites.... but I'm not sure about the mail servers..... This way.... I don't have to worry about it... If you have mail.... that is critical to your business... you should be maintaining a backup.... locally anyway..... as good as powweb is..... they can't protect everything..... That's why they call them server CRASHES.... not server bumps..... |

Well, thats neat. I have separate identities on outlook and I check everyday the accounts. I suppose that by doing that the mail doesn´t acumulate on the server, or does it? If they clean it up or crash then I wont have to worry. Thanks for the advice.

What happens when i read mail on the mail server. Do my messages I´ve read are downloaded to. And how can I download messages I´ve sent on the mail server, I suppose that you must leave a copy of the sent message and then send a copy to your own mail or what?
