The last I looked, oscommerce had "modules" that worked with various payment processing systems, include PayPal. You don't get CC processing for free.

What I haven't figured out yet is if there's a way to just have it securely store the CC information that I could run through my own merchant processing.

yes, OSC can have CC processing set up to use your Merchant Account and you will need to process the order manually once you view it in the Admin Panel/ Orders section of OSC. The puchasing process, customer information and admin panel use SSL to allow the transactions to be secured.

Once you are in the Admin Panel under Orders you will see where to print out the Invoice and Packing Slip of the item ordered.

Within the Admin Panel you will see a list of people you can set accounts up with or use your own merchant account. Even though you have your own merchant account, people still like to use an online "middle-man" to help secure their information from the Seller. Setting up different options is something to consider.

Paypal

I have downloaded the Paypal module and uploaded the files, but there is a .sql file which needs to be added to my SQL database. How do I do that?

You can use phpmyadmin or MySql-Front to execute the commands. You'll have to install one or the other (or both!) separately.

osCommerce has an option where it will just store the CC info in the database, and then you log in as an Admin and retrieve it. This is not terribly secure, but getting at it would require knowing either your Admin username and password or that of your MySQL database.

There is another option where it masks out the middle 8 digits in the database and sends you those by e-mail. You then have to match them up.

There's a contribution which allows you to delete the CC info from the database once you've processed the order. I downloaded it but haven't installed it yet.

Thanks for your reply.

I did as you said but when I try to activate the Paypal option under Payments it doesnt do anything.

Also I get other error messages.

Do you know anyone who can install this for me?

I looked at the PayPal payment module and it seemed straightforward - nothing to install, just activate. But I also see on the osc discussion board that there is a new PayPal module available that uses a different communication method. My store isn't using PayPal, so I have no clue how one sets it up.

Hey guys, sorry I'm I may be a little off-topic, but do you know of some sort of module to provide integration of ikobo into OSCommerce. I've looking for something like this but I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone here can help me. Thanks!

Wow, great, thanks! I think this is just what I was looking for you know. I didn't really think something like this actually existed. I mean I know ikobo has third party shopping cart support, but this is just great. Oh yeah, and the latest release is for Romanian language... and guess what, I'm Romanian. Again, thank you very much for this, I really appreciate it!
