All I want to know is what's going on, is it being worked on, are there backups?

A number of websites have vanished, and I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not very happy being in the dark about things. I would feel a lot better or at least have some resolution if you admins would share with us what's going on.

Yes there are backups and admins are working on it. If you have your files on your local machine you can upload.

Yes, but if we don't have backups will they restore our files?

Yes Powweb will restore your files with their most recent backup.

When they do....I suggest you backup your files on your local machine.

Due to some confusion restoring from backups was not really necessary... Wrong mount points from the webservers on the filers made it appear that files were lost or missing at times to the FTP or WWW Servers. We recently did some reorganization of our file server to help make dealing with files on it more efficient. This was a symptom of the change, but has been corrected. No more changes on the filers will be necessary so problems like this one should not ever happen again. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are makeing these changes to improve service and hopefully soon allow us to add more features, specifically web based automated backup restores of entire sites or individual files. We hope to have this feature available soon.

To answer your questions reguarding our backup schedules/frequency, PowWeb's servers on our filers (all new machines and some of our older machines, soon to be all our machines) use NetApp's snapshot technology to handle backups makeing it possible for use to backup your files 6 times, 2 houly backups, 2 nightly backups, and 2 weekly backups.
