Um, if you want to pay extra for a shopping cart, there are plenty of companies willing to take your money and provide one to you. PowWeb isn't in the business of developing shopping carts. They have added osCommerce as a free option and provided an easy setup for it. But osCommerce is like a lot of open source software - buggy, complex and hard to configure and use. But it is also very powerful and extensible, with a large community contributing ideas and code.
A lot of people successfully use osCommerce. It does take a bit of effort up-front. If you want it "stock", it's not hard to set up and works fairly well. I think it's nice that PowWeb made it available with easy installation for those who want it. It sounds to me as if you need a different solution.

There are many cheap or free e-commerce solutions that can be found by searching Google by typing "free e-commerce scripts". I never expected to look/find scripts on the web host site.
I never complain about anything offered to me for free. I just accept or decline politely. You pay PowWeb for web HOSTING, not script debugging. But you can politely contact PowWeb support to request an alternative shopping cart. Other people successfully installed the cart. Are you sure it needs debugging? ![]() |

Oh, yes, there are bugs in each of the "stable" versions of osCommerce. It's software, you have to expect this. The osCommerce support forums are a good resource on fixes, but it can be hard sometimes to figure out what to search for to find the right discussion.

Re: POWWEB AND Oscommerce cart

That's like posting "I need help with this CGI script" but not giving any specifics. Are you having any particular problems? I've successfully installed osCommerce on two sites here at PowWeb and would be glad to help troubleshoot your problems.
