Questions for a basic user

Aight... I just installed the oscommerce and even though it looks professional and exact... I have no clue on what's going on

I wanted it to be like pay pal...you know...just providing a button and it'll go thru the steps without having to be a member which is paypal's fall.

Now..do I need to create an index page for my catalog/store?

Also is it more safe than using paypal?

How can I really customize this catalog?

help me out please..but be sure I'll have more question

Thanks...Peace

PayPal is the most frequent option for paying/selling through the OSC application.

When a person clicks on buy, it will take them out of your site to the PayPal site just as if you have a paypal button on a static page.

What do you want to know about "customize the cataloge"

Do you want it to look different?

Do you want to know how to change the options for your products?

The first one is hard, no lying there, and will take some knowlege of php and css to even attempt a change. Post back with specific questions & I'll probably be able to point you in the right direction. If you expect to change the entire look of OSC then expect to spend upwards of 30 hours reconfiguring the code. This type of modification is only for those who have a solid understanding of php.

Changing or adding options to your products is fairly easy once you get the hang of things. Poke around the existing products that come preloaded and you will see some of the options.

You may also design individual pages for the products you want to have more information about. These you can link to when you upload the individual product image.
