Can't login - Dreamweaver
It says "site found connecting" and then it just stalls as it says "waiting for server".
After a minute it says connection has been lost. Any help would be appreciated. |

Dreamweaver uses FTP... are you using your FTP hostname or your domain name?

Also try enabling Passive Mode for FTP.

I am not sure what you mean.
I am using using Dreamweaver's FTP. I use "connect via FTP" and then I use "oyermusic.com" when it asks for the hostname. For the folder I have "/" It still doesn't work. I tried using ftp.oyermusic.com and it doesn't work either. This used to work fine. I haven't changed anything. Has powweb changed by any chance? Thanks, Andy |

It looks like you are on the "Space" server, so ftp.oyermusic.com should work.
How long has it been since you last uploaded files? If it has been more than 90 days, you may need to log into OPs and reset your FTP password. |

I have a site on space, use Dreamweaver, and it works fine. I do find that checking the Use Passive FTP box helps, but I think Jack has the best suggestion, that being that your FTP username was disabled for non-use.

Dreamweaver 4 FTP Connection Tip
We lost our remote connection via Dreamweaver 4 about a week ago. I found the solution that helped reconnect us!
First - check your Site / Define setting: Have your Host Directory set to= ./htdocs/ - having the "period" in front of the slash is suggested from Macromedia. They also suggest putting two periods for other users. * Select "Use Passive FTP" - Macromedia suggests having this checked off if you are working behind a firewall. Second - Go to Edit /Preferences in your Dreamweaver site window toolbar: * Select "Site" from the left selection column. * Uncheck FTP Connection. This will allow you to remain connected longer without timing out and reconnecting. You can select to "unplug" the connection sooner or just let it disconnect on its own. * Set FTP Timeout to 120 Seconds. This is the suggested setting from Macromedia. Ours had been set to 0 - this was causing Dreamweaver to abort the connection and setting it to 60 may not be long enough of a connection - 120 is the recommended number of seconds. * Make sure your firewall port is set to 21 / some people use 20 Hope this helps anyone using Dreamweaver 4 or MX software. We had not changed any settings, but Dreamweaver is sensitive and apparently when maintenance was done a week ago, these settings needed to be changed. |

In particular, 'Use Passive FTP' must be left unchecked. PowWeb recently made changes to its servers requiring this.
