Hi,

Why didn't you tell me that the services being offered by Powweb were as good as I just saw. Was doing some search on google on some other thing and followed a link that said one or two things about powweb and I simply followed the powweb link.

You must do me a favour. I need assurance from you that the way my website is right now can be reproduced on powweb if I switch especially the perl programs installed on the site, that's all I need to be sure of. The decision to move is certainly final unless all the features stated are hype, although I doubt it having benefitted immensely from this forum even without being a powweb member.

Just get back to me so that I can arrange for payment modalities via wire tranfer or money order since credit/debit card facilities are non existence here in Nigeria (thanks to scam/419 emails from my own very people, too bad).

Later my friend.

Well I'm not Yvette...obviously

But no one can promise you anything. Perl scripts will work fine here, but they will need to be modified to fit the new file structure here.

The best thing to do is sign up, copy your website over to powweb, test it out. If all works well, cancel your old host and point the domain to powweb. If your site doesn't work, cancel your powweb account within 30 days and get all your money back.

Since PowWeb is making changes to their website, some of the information has been relocated, changed or missing in action. The Perl module list has disappeared, so you will have to ask PowWeb if they support any modules you wish to use. If they do not, they may install them for you.

If your current web host is Unix or Linux and specifically Apache, chances are your scripts will all be supported here. PowWeb does not allow Telnet, so you must use other methods of uploading files.

BerksWebGuy gave a good suggestion to test here BEFORE you cancel your old hosting. I often tell this to clients, but they don't always follow that advice.

Your main obstacle is trying to purchase hosting through PowWeb since you are in Nigeria. You should be able to purchase a money order in U.S. funds since most countries deal with the U.S.. I am sure that PowWeb has received payments from other countries that have a similar situation as yours. Just contact them and ask them anything you need to know.

Hi BerksWebGuy,

Thanks a lot. I guess that's the best option to follow, test and see.

Hi YvetteKuhns,

The support team says perl scripts will work just fine. My present platform is unix and the billing group says money order is okay.

Many thanks.

If you want to find out what Perl modules are installed, put this into your browser address bar:

http://SERVER.powweb.com/powweb-bin/perldiver.cgi

Where SERVER is the particular server your site is hosted on.

If you aren't already hosted here, you can use

http://ops.powweb.com/powweb-bin/perldiver.cgi

For an overall of what modules are installed

Wow, the perl module list is back! It was missing the last time I looked for it. I had it bookmarked, then checked the website and the forum where the links were disabled. Thanks, JJ.

Would the streachy white spandex of your avatar give that impression... I know, for a fact, that YvetteKuhns wears that same BWG streachy white spandex at every opportunity I do too, when they let me out of this darned jacket

I never wore white spandex. I did wear black fishnet stockings for Halloween or white lacy stockings for my wedding. I was 115 pounds when I met Don, but I was 122 when I married him. He is a great cook and fed me well. With his cooking, my aging and childbearing, I am now much bigger than I was. Spandex is no longer an option.

The lingerie pics are too racy for PowWeb hosting. Even the leopard skin bra and panties pics may get me in trouble. But my husband loves to buy women's clothes - for him and me!
