New Version of my site is up.

Ive gone the route of PostNuke and PhphpBB2. It has been a learning experience. Come to think of it, it is still a learning process. Despite several system crashes (my fault) it seems to be stable now.

Im currently starting to learn how to make my own theme so the current one is quite basic but the other stuff will adapt to what I come up with themewise.

In the meantime, here it is. Win-Bytes

I always tend to shy away from commenting on sites since they are such a personal thing. I liked yours So many gaming oriented sites look so black and dark (I guess that's part of the gaming motif ). Yours on the other hand is light, clean (uncluttered), intuitive in navigation, etc. But remember you're getting this from a guy in a straight jacket

My only comments would be:

1. The members list. I was able to view it. I think that the members list is something that I should have to register at the site to view.

2. Gallery theme, while nice, just (I don't know exactly how to say it) doesn't fit. You said that you are still working on the theming, so I'm sure that you have something in mind. Every other section of site fit like hand in glove (and remember if it don't fit you must acquit... sorry).

I like it. Is the stats section part of PostNuke? Usually I don't think that "full-blown" stats like AWStats or Webilizer are any body's business other than the sys-admin. But the stats at your site are just right to actually help the members see the heavy times of the day and days of the week.

When you get all your theming done, I'd be interested to see it again... post back.

overall a good looking site, like symo said, easy to navigate, light and bright, much better than all the other gaming sites, take that into thought when you work on your custom theme. i couldn't tell it was a gaming site, you maight want to make your point a little clearer.

People ask me what the site is for...It is for fun, both for you and for me. Look around and see what I have and if there is something that you would like to see added then join in and let me know!!

if i go to a site i don't want to look around and find stuff, i want to know where stuff is. all in all it looks like you just got going and i know how difficult nuke can be, the hard part will be adding content that keeps people coming back and modifying the design to make your site stand out from everything else. keep up the good work, and i look forward to seeing it with your design mods.

Playing with the Nukes software was a learning experience but in the end, I stayed away with the nuke cms. Nice site.

Thanks for the comments!

The Gallery section is definitely in its infancy. There is only one album setup at the moment as all my time has been spent on getting things working well together. Newer albums following different themes will be introduced soon. I may even go with multiple blocks with different themes but Im afraid of cluttering. Screenshots of games will be showcased, comics and so forth will be soon displayed and my dogs will be taking the backseat.

The stats function is actually built into the postnuke cms and is always available unless I take it away. I like it to so it will be staying.

As for it being a gaming site, Im trying to stay away from that precise designation. I enjoy games but there are lots of other people, namely clans, that cover that genre already. My intent is to go more hardware, software and reviews. Gamers need good rigs but everyone needs knowledge of what makes a good rig not to mention when good rigs go bad. Im hoping to appeal a little bit to all. Something for everyone.

The theme that Im going to be doing is again simple to look at, clean as it was described up above. The content is what is more important to me, I dont want the theme to be right in your face.

I will definitely post back as the evolution continues.

Thanks

Steve
