mlpinxit.com critique
Please critique my website – mlpinxit.com. I have been running this web site for about 3 years. I started it when I was living in New Jersey USA. Its original purpose was to show my photographs of family and places we had visited to our friends and relatives in the UK and other places. Since I have returned to the UK in 2002, it has gone through several design changes and its current purpose is to display my slightly more serious photography efforts. In this respect, it has been relatively successful and I have sold one or two images from the site and been asked to put on an exhibition. Just recently though, it seems to have slipped down the search engine results and I am unsure why, so any advice on this would be helpful. Please critique the site, all aspects and let me know what you think. Thank you.

Some downright gorgeous pix in there!
I would however suggest more content. Information on each of the pic pages.. but especially content on your main page. Search engines thrive on text, and there is so little on your main page. Maybe move your "about" to be next to your image on the index page? adding also if your images are for sale (if so, what format - how much), do you do photography for others? (real estate agents maybe? contractors building sites?). Get a bit of textural content in there & your ranking should improve some ![]() still loving the pix... -L

I agree with Laurey's comments. I love the photos, but there wasn't much text contents. The home page could have a collage of thumbnails instead of just one photo and a paragraph stating the site purpose.
The gray color is like a rainy day. Too much gray for me. Makes me sad. Please consider another color for the background. All pages should have the entire navigation menu and not a back to previous page or Photolog link. To include the menu on each page, you could use SSI. I found a broken link in your links. I didn't check them all, but you can. ![]() Nice images. I would like to see the website when there is more text. ![]() |

Thank you for your comments, I think I agree about the grey colour. Not sure what to do about the links and how to put them on each page without cluttering up the layout.

Perhaps giving your big pictures some border will break the monotony - but I love your pictures! Give some descriptions, e.g. place, season
Grey, or other neutral color is fine as a background to show off those pictures - but too much of your screen is background, that's my opinion. Shenz |
