Please provide feedback

Hi All,

I just redid one of my websites and I would appreciate if you could take a look and provide me with some constructive feedback. What you like, what you don't, what could be better....well I guess you know the drill.

I used dreamweaver for the site template and have yet to export the site without the dreamweaver markup, but I will be doing that shortly.

Thanks in advance.

Here's the link:

Just a quick look at your site, but I think you need to look at it using something other than IE. In Netscape and Mozilla FireFox things are not aligning the way you want. Most likely you've got a missing </td> or </tr> tag somewhere in your code.

Other than that, I like the overall design and navigation, will stop back later to look at the rest of the site.

Thanks for the reply. I am curious about the above. I have been testing in both IE and Mozilla Firefox and everything seems to be ok in both except that the footer area does not center in Firefox - but I can live with that.

Thanks.

Have you looked at it at 800x600 when using FireFox?

At 1024, it looks ok in FireFox/Netscape, but at 800 it has lots of horizontal scroll. This horiz scroll is not there in IE, so that leads me to think that something is not quite right

Thumbs up

I agree with JJ's comments. Try not to put too many animations on one page, though yours are not too close together. The HOT animation draws attention to a spelling error "particpate". There are many colors and usually it is best to choose two, three or four colors for a color scheme. This is especially important when there are color images in the web pages.

The drop shadow in the graphics such as Site Navigation is like a blur since the text itself is solid black. The text Happy 4th appears black on blue background which is difficult to read. Try to keep the site appearance mild so our eyes go to the images of the bulldogs.

The fonts seem small, but I was partying last night! The site looks a bit busy with so many colors and animations. Yes, I keep saying it. The design itself is very nice in a higher screen resolution. I like the header graphic, but the fireworks I hope is just there for the holiday. Glad to see only paw prints left behind from the bulldogs.

I must say that I am impressed with how well you integrated your design in your forum! I mention this often about using a similar color scheme and header if possible. You even have paw prints. Nice job!

This is a very nice site for bulldog lovers and owners. Very well planned and easy to navigate. Really cute!

JJ...aahh 800 by 600. I incorrectly made the assumption that my design would account for that since it adjusts to screen width - apparently not. I will see what I can do about that - thanks!

Yvette I appreciate your comments. The fireworks are just for the 4th
I was wondering about the font sizes too - I'll do some experimenting with that too. I'll take some time to try out some other colors too.

Thanks guys!

Just to reiterate, your site looks fine at 800x600..but ONLY in IE. The other browsers aren't rendering it the same. That's why I said that I thought it could be a missing /tag, since IE isn't as compliant/picky about such things.

I had a minimum width line in my CSS file. Removing that appears to have cleared the Mozilla 800x600 issue. Thanks JJ - never would have found that on my own.
