yet another critique

My site is my own weblog. It also has information about other personal projects and whatnot. What can I do to make it better? Anything from complicated features to basic design. Thanks!

I like the layout and color scheme for your website; layout is pretty standard for a blog but I'm a big fan of that layout so I don't have much to say about it :]

Likes:
- Your color scheme
- Your layout
- the "me by buttons" section

Dislikes:
- your splash page; well, all splash pages for that matter, I hate the extra click

I think your site is well done and really don't have much to suggest I guess :]

I agree with blade83's comments. There is alot of white space on the right side of the screen in a higher screen resolution. Actually, I only see text on the left half of the screen! Oh, wait. I scrolled to the bottom and found contents on the right side, but none on the left. Those contents probably should have appeared beside the text. Ah, they do on the other pages, but not for the blog. I happened to be using Internet Exploder 6 to view - against your/my recommendations, only because the majority of viewers still use it.

Links to other websites should open in a new window, so visitors don't get too far away from your website that they can't get back to it. I enjoyed reading about you - your likes and dislikes - which are similar to mine except that I drink milk instead of coffee and I will eat meat! I live on a farm.

Your buttons are cool. They should be thumbnails to enlarged images that can be printed for bumper stickers! Interesting website.

Thank you both so much! This has been a big help so far!

The only reason I do the splash page is so my recommended resolution and browsers are visible before a person enters the site. Still, I wonder if anyone really reads those... Also, maybe a cookie could be used to keep a user from viewing the splash screen twice...

YvetteKuhns: what resolution were you using? I will have to try correct issues for that. Thanks for using IE as well. Almost everyone in the logs for my site uses IE. Silly people.

I was viewing in 1024x768 screen resolution. Though I also use Mozilla, I am stuck using IE to see what everyone else is seeing.

I looked at the website in Mozilla Firefox on Mac OSX and on Debian -- the error described by Yvette in IE6 does not occur in Mozilla.

I'm with you magicked -- as you say on your website, down with IE! ;]

Too bad coding for the majority is a good idea eh? :]

Wow, I just saw the error myself. I thought I tested for these things. Very strange.

Well, now I have to figure out how to fix this, seeing as most of the logs were from users with 1024 x 768 resolution using IE 6.0. They probably have no clue as to why nothing shows up on the right side for them.

Okay, I made a quick fix and it worked for me. Hopefully it will work for others as well.
