530 Login Failure

I used to use Fetch/MAC but have now bought a PC and am trying to use WS FTP.

I am having a heck of a time!

When I fill out the "Session Properties" Window, hit apply and then "OK" it says cannot not log-on as anonymous user (which I didn't) Enter password.

I enter it again and it says "530 Logon Failure"

I even changed my password to make sure I was using the right one, and it let me change it. HELP!!

After changing your password, it may take up to 15 minutes to cycle through our servers.

Thanks Tom.

But any idea why it wouldn't work in the first place? I was using the correct one because it let me change it. I tried it 20+ times, using the "baby-step" typing method to be sure I didn't make a mistake.

We automatically disable FTP accounts not used within the last 90 days. I suspect this was why it wouldn't work for you originally.

Tried it 5 more times with my new password. Still says 530 Login Error.

It seems weird that am not logging in as an anonymous user, but a small box comes up and says "Cannot login as anonymous user. Enter a password for ftp03.powweb.com

I enter my password and it says.....well you know by now 530 login failure

Are you sure you're changing the FTP user password and not the OPS user password? You should be changing the FTP user password on the Web Site > FTP tab.

Is there a way to get the password sent to you? It tried the old one 20 times before switching it out of frustration.

So I think there is some other problem, though admittedly, this is the first time I have used WS FTP, so I could be doing something stupid. I hae downloaded the direction, but keep getting hung up att he Login.

Certainly, "530" must tell you something about the matter. No?

What am I doing wrong?

Any idea if I need to put anything in the proxy settings in WS FTP?

I am still struggling here.

The only confirmation available is the Verify link on the FTP tab in OPS.

A 530 authentication error shouldn't have anything to do with your firewall.

OK I found the bloody page. I tried ferifying the password and here is what it came up with. Password matched. FTP connected yet it says there is a mismatch. What the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Users Usage

The password you entered returned the following results:
Encrypted Password in Database: Matched
FTP Server: Connected
A mismatch in the database will probably result in a failed connection to the server. If you no longer know what your password is reset it and wait a few minutes and try again. If the password matches the encrypted password in our database but it failed to connect to the server, please make sure you waited at least 15 minutes for our servers to update and then contact Technical Support.

Posting after every few minutes will NOT get you a faster reply on your questions. Also everytime you reset the password on FTP or email, it will take approx 30 mins for the new password to work.
