how do you monitor you store?
the problem with the sessions directory was only today made known to me (obviously I don't sell alot out of my store since the problem is almost two months old).
The last time powweb changed something in their structure and oscommerce stopped working I found out the same as today, a customer emailed to tell me they couldn't complete checkout. how do you monitor your site? I use internet seer which tells me if my site doesn't respond but that doesn't tell me if the shopping cart has become broken because of changes to powweb. I installed oscommerce june of 2003 and don't touch the programming unless I absolutely have to ! I only make changes to the default.php and style sheet to change the appearance. my point being, if my shopping cart stops working I haven't touched it since summer of 2003 and am not expecting it to stop working so am unaware of the changes at powweb. do you depend on customers emailing you (wonder how many just leave) or do you go in and try to buy something every day just to be sure it is working? thanks in advance. |

Well, I set things up to email me if there's an SQL error or a page-not-found. But to some extent, you do have to rely on customers telling you. If you're used to a regular volume of orders and they suddenly stop, that should be a clue.
