Angry error message on cart

ok last night I logged into my admin and saw this error message at top of screen. This shocked me since last time I was in there everything was fine. Went to cart and message was on top pf pages in there also. Help does anyone have any clue what could have caused this? Or how I can fix it??

Warning: session_start(): open(/tmp/sess_a29f2834f6e0283e5257170e240b7c58, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in /www/d/dstwcolr/htdocs/catalog/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 67
Warning: I am not able to write to the sessions directory: /tmp. Sessions will not work until the right user permissions are set.

Thanks,
Tina

The fix for this problem is to change the define of STORE_SESSIONS in your two configure.php files (one in catalog/includes and one in catalog/admin/includes) from '' to 'mysql'.

Change it to what?? I didn't make any changes to begin with so I have no idea what to do.

any help would be great. I also saw 2 errors at bottom of page. The last thing I did in admin was add new product.
