Question on growth.

Greetings. I was having a discussion with a couple of my little helpers on the site that we run, and the thought occured... The way we've grown from a pidly little site, to mediocre in the last 6 months is scary... what happens in a year and a half or 2 when we may need more than 100 megs of space or more than 12 gigs bandwidth....

Is it possible to buy another powweb account, but simply add to my current site? as in, same domain name, but double everything else. If it's not possible now, is this something that could be implimented in the future. I'm quite happy with the service here, I'd hate to have to move if we got too big.

Powweb expects for our users sites to grow. That is why we provide more bandwidth and storage than most others web hosts do for our low price. Should you need more, you can always buy additional disk space ($1 per month for each 5 MB block) and you can pay for additional bandwidth ($8 per gig over your 12 Gig per month limit).

If you have any questions about this, please contact support@powweb.com

Yes i know that. But it would be CHEAPER to just slap a whole new account on top of that. $8 a month for an extra gig, I mean I only pay $9 a month for EVERYTHING else. Besides, I'm not too worried about bandwidth at the moment, I signed up before 7/18, I still get unlimited till it's time to renew

FYI, there never was "unlimited" bandwidth use. If you read our ToS or the FAQ section at this time, it said that users that used over 12 Gig of transfer w/in 30 days was considered a "resource abuser" and their account was subject to termination. In other words, you have to pay for what you use no matter when you signed up.

As for just ordering a second account, yes, this is an option, but you can’t "combine" the resources of one account into another account. You still only get 100 MB of disk space and 12 Gig of free transfer each month per account.

Ah ha! So basically, i'd get a new site, and merely move a few high traffic areas to it, and break up the two sites so they used roughly equal resources. I mean, I'd be happy to do that if it came down to it, i just think it would be easier for all involved if there was a "stacking" option allowed.... plus if I bought a new site and put my old one into the referall slot, wouldn't i also get 2 free months on my older site?

When I read the FAQ's at signup i seem to recall that bandwidth was unlimited, however if a site was using too many resources, that powweb and said site would need to come to an agreement on this that would be mutually beneficial... it didn't say anything about getting your site deleted... Although it's possible I'm simply dellusional.

P.S.: Please don't think I'm being a *****, I'm really simply curious.

Correct, you could do this. We have a few users that "spread" out their bandwidth usage between 2 or 3 different accounts hosted by Powweb.

Re: our older ToS. I don’t have a copy of it now, but I know there was something in it or our FAQ section that covered this.

Either way, we aren’t trying to charge anyone for anything they don’t use, or that’s unfair.
