I have built my page with Microsoft Word. Is that my HTML software? I just built my webpage as if I were designing anything else in Microsoft Word. I don't know anything about HTML.

OK, I figured out how to access the code. Do I change the meta tags that are already there or do I type in new meta tags?

either one. I would just change and add to the ones that are already there.

How can I know if my changes worked and if they will be recognized by search engines? Thank you VBman for all your help.

You should be fine if you added them. Basically, the only way to check them would be to wait until they are added to the search engines which takes a different amount of time for each individual search engine; and then to search for your keywords in each search engine. But then you will be playing against everyone else's meta tags......so if you've added the keywords to the meta tags and then submit them for submission, you should be fine...
