Scanner
When I try to use my scanner, multicoloured horizontal lines appear all the way down the image. All the cables are hooked up. I haven't changed anything since my last successful scan, which was only a week or so ago, so it hasn't been modified in any way. Any ideas what's wrong?

The first things that come to mind are:
Make sure that nothing has gotten on the glass of the scanner, like moisture or the oil for a persons fingers. Clean with a soft cloth and an ammonia free cleaner. Have you tried more than one picture to scan? I've seen certain photo papers cause the same effect. Disconnect the cables and reconnect them, to make sure that you have a good clean connection. If all of the above doesn't solve it, then if this scanner has a power supply of it's own, make sure that it's not malfunctioning. If the voltage drops on the supply it could cause a similar effect as well. Just my "For What It's Worth" |

It's probably something on the scanner glass, but don't rule out these.
bad cable Faulty scanner bulb some scanners have mirrors which get dirty. Scanners are cheap, if it's a couple of years old, invest in a firewire or usb (2) scanner, well worth the price. |
