"The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message."

When retrieving mail with Thunderbird I get this full error message:
"The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail.sparhawks.com responded: Can't open the message file -- it's gone!"

When I log into the same e-mail account using SquirrelMail, I get 2 messages with "Unknown" for the Sender, "Unknown Date" for the Date, and "(no subject)" for the subject line.

When I click on the message link to view the message, I get "Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/home/powweb/web/mail/squirrelmail/class/mime/Message.class.php on line 206"

What is going on here?
